The story Behind the Picture

For awhile now this has been one of my favorite photographs. This photo was taken by Thomas P. Peschak of the African Coast. In fairly shallow water, the guy turns around and sees this massive animal/predator following his tiny craft through miles of ocean.

Now try this: look at this picture..... Think about being in that kayak.

I'm not sure about the rest of you; but i would be pretty freaked out. I'm a great studier of sharks; they fascinate me to no end. Yet to have something that gigantic following my small transportation through its element sets every hair in my head to a nervous attention. Its surreal.... The shark is a Great White. That species has attacked humans and is feared by all for its reputation. Getting in the water with one ( without any form of protection) would be considered suicide. 

Then there is this picture. He is actually in the water with something so giant that if it wanted to could swallow him whole. But in this like the other picture the truth is in the details. That shark is a whale shark. though Giant in size, the whale shark eats very small food. So this man may have a story to tell for years, he was in no real danger. 

For some sharks in any form are frightening. Doesn't matter if they are dangerous or not, they are sharks and sharks are bad. But just like almost everything in life, knowing the story or details makes all the difference....
